Chanel Crawford

Chanel Crawford is an experienced attorney in our nonprofit law division, where she works with clients to solve problems unique to this field. Her primary focus is on issues relating to nonprofit compliance and reinstatement with government agencies, obtaining tax exemptions, and dissolutions. She brings with her an extensive history of service to her community and a commitment to compassion, constructive advice, education, and the careful protection of her client’s best interests.

Born and raised in Sonoma County, California, Chanel graduated from Petaluma High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis, and a teaching credential from Sonoma State University. After some time spent teaching science to high school students, Chanel returned to Davis, where she attended the UC Davis School of Law and graduated in the top 5% of her class. Drawn again to public service, she spent the first part of her legal career practicing criminal law. Having years of experience as both a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney, this background has provided her with extensive skills in evaluating cases from multiple angles and developing calculated strategies.

Chanel is blessed to have her immediate and extended family living locally; outside of work, she spends most of her time with them. Her other interests include traveling (warm places preferred), building and fixing things, competitive games, and puzzles.
